Outback adventures, wellness centres and corporate games: Commbank provides exceptional benefits

Commbank employees share their stories about the wide range of staff benefits available at Commbank.

Seeking your next adventure or planning that next trip? Flex at yoga and then flex your hours? No matter what you’re after, Commbank’s benefits offer something for everyone:

“Studying my MBA while working full time at CommBank has been such an important milestone for me. I’ve been so grateful for the financial support the bank has provided to help me complete my MBA, contributing not just to my education but to my overall financial wellbeing. CommBank’s support has been comprehensive, allowing me the freedom to work flexibly, use study leave for my exams and even travel to India for an MBA project.”

Aleyna Oksuz – Manager, Organisational Development Consulting

“Last year, with the support of CommBank, I was lucky enough to take paid volunteering leave to go on a Jawun secondment. This meant being seconded to an Indigenous organisation for six weeks to deliver a project designed to improve the lives of Indigenous people, businesses and communities. During my secondment I lived in in Nhulunbuy in North East Arnhem Land and worked with a local Indigenous organisation called Miwatj Health.

“Every day I was presented with the opportunity to experience something new. I witnessed culturally significant events like being welcomed to country in a traditional smoking ceremony by Yolngu elders, and never-in-your-Sydney-life moments like seeing a croc in the wild. There were plenty of pinch-yourself moments too, like being taught about the Yolngu culture and history by people who have called the land home for millions of years. These cultural experiences were unique to the area in which I was placed, and each community offers its own unique experience and learnings to secondees lucky enough to participate in the program.

“Jawun was an opportunity to stretch myself, both professionally and personally. It was an opportunity to be challenged, confronted and ultimately changed in ways I never might not have the chance to experience again.”

Kirsten Low – Employer Brand Project Manager

“Creating a wonderful team culture is a big thing for me, and to be able to live and breathe that in the workplace every day is brilliant. One way CommBank allows us to do this is by participating in the annual Corporate Games. In 2019 we sent 150 of our Melbourne staff to compete in teams across a wide range of sports, giving them the opportunity to be active and network with colleagues from all around Australia. who they wouldn’t normally see. We’re a large organisation, and this gives our people a way to connect with each other.”

Outback adventures, wellness centres and corporate games: Commbank provides exceptional benefits

“Physical and mental well-being has always been a passion of mine. Being able to bring a passion of mine to work every day gives me the ultimate job satisfaction. It all started a couple of years ago when I received a phone call from a property representative at CommBank who said they wanted to bring CommBank’s very own staff wellness centre – Active Live – to life.

Fast forward to today, and I couldn’t be prouder of the incredible community we’ve built and the numerous personal health success stories I’ve seen. As a team we’re truly changing lives, improving productivity, helping people feel better, creating better personal connections and bringing humans together in the most beautiful, healthy way, whether it be through team yoga, cardio classes or a chat about health & fitness – all while not having to leave your office location.”

Jasmine Sakr – Staff Wellness Centre Provider

“Going to the movies is something I love to do. I use the Staff Deals app to buy discounted movie tickets and download them instantly, which is great for last-minute plans. Having the app at my fingertips is fantastic for the bargain-hunters among us!”

Aoife Treacy – Probity Co-ordinator

“CommBank is really proactive at supporting parents at work. We have three childcare centres currently open in Sydney. These centres are owned by the bank and offer priority placement for the children of our people, as well as the ability to salary sacrifice the fees.

I love that CommBank does so much to support parents and parents returning to work. With two children myself I understand how stressful it can be to find good-quality childcare, so for our people this is an invaluable benefit.”
