Rhonda says, "Every day is different, and that’s what is so enjoyable about this job." Fareeda agrees, noting, "My role is very varied – from scoping jobs and submitting client estimates, to site audits, dealing with challenges and talking to the community – the experience I’m gaining is exceptional."

Ventia’s commitment to flexibility is a big plus for many. Rhonda loves the supportive team culture at Ventia: "The people we work with are so supportive, calm and helpful. There is a great culture between us – I love working hand-in-hand with the team, onsite and in the office." This kind of environment is perfect for those who need a job that fits around their life, not the other way around.

Both Fareeda and Rhonda have faced their own set of challenges. Rhonda, from Tonga, has navigated cultural barriers, while Fareeda moved from India during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these hurdles, they’ve found strong support at Ventia. Rhonda shares, "I am very lucky to have people in my life who support me. My husband supports me, whatever I need to do for work he helps me make it possible; and my mother was so supportive – she taught me I don’t have to rely on anyone else, I need to rely on myself."

Fareeda is also proud of her journey: "I am so proud of this job. My parents have been frequently questioned by other people about supporting my career – but they are proud I am working as an engineer and helping to build the community." Her experience shows how Ventia supports its employees through diverse and flexible work practices.

Ventia’s inclusive culture makes it a fantastic place for women. Fareeda highlights the team’s diverse mix: "Our team comprises individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, genders, and abilities. This rich tapestry of perspectives and experiences creates a vibrant and dynamic work environment where everyone feels valued and empowered."

If you’re thinking about a career in engineering, Rhonda has some friendly advice: "Don’t give up. Sometimes it feels like it’s too hard, your family might not understand; some days it might feel like you don’t have support, but you can do it and tomorrow is another day." And Fareeda encourages you to take the leap: "If you get an opportunity, don’t look back. Only you know your capabilities – fight for yourself, don’t hold back, you know you can do it. You are worth it. Believe in yourself and find your crew that supports you."

Ventia is a place where your unique talents and perspectives are celebrated. With flexible roles across Australia and New Zealand, it’s a great time to explore what Ventia has to offer and see how you can be a part of their amazing team.
